The Great Indian Wedding

Indian wedding is a combination of reunion of relatives after long time, noise, gathering, meeting new people, consumption of lots of delicious food & sweets, opportunity to wear beautiful clothes esp. those sherwanis and suits for which lot were spend when purchased but rarely becomes our second skin these days, managing people in their rooms for their lunch and dinner, receiving people visiting from outstation during late night hours, exchanging new numbers, dancing, singing, music, light, gossiping about others and knowing what is going in each others lives these days.

I recently was a part (Host) in my family wedding. Late nights and early mornings can be easily experienced in marriages esp when you are from host side. Also expect that your phone could ring every 15 minutes except the condition if it's not switched off. The energy among marriage attendees is amazing.I wish I could carry that energy throughout my life each and every day. ;) The ceremonies involving marriage keep the people involved at their toes running here and there esp the managing committee.

Nowadays it's easier than ever to go an alien city and host a marriage thanks to the Contract people who will do each and every thing, just be ready to throw amount and all your basic jobs will be taken care of , like - catering, room service, decoration, band,. But what if the guests list suggested by groom side is not that much as expected? Be prepared to suffer losses financially due to less or non availability of guests from both sides.

The rituals are also old but as they say old is gold which holds true even today. Be it not permitting the bride and groom when they enter the room for worshiping GOD or stealing the shoes. The sister-in-laws have a ball out there who can earn while playing pranks at their newly brother-in-law. Brothers from bride side also gets a chance when the groom takes the bride away to his home and they stop his car.

Finally the 3-4 days carnival(great Indian wedding) ends with lots of memories till the next reunion which is rare these days as compared to our childhood.

  1. Indian or north indian hindu marriage, to be very precise, is always been special for me too. what I love the most is the music. It's surprisingly pleasant to see the lady gang singing folk songs for each and every ceremony of the wedding. And indian musical instruments like dholak, manjeera etc. add flavours to it.
