A Sunday that changed my health life forever

One of the Fridays, I went with my colleagues for an office outing to a water park.It was a refreshing change in and out of the water and water rides the whole day.

The next day - Saturday (Ohm Shan Shanicharaay Namah:) was spent in researching over the best swimming pool in my area. Didn't judged much about the swimming pool's maintenance and swiiming coach because I have learnt in life if we judge too much we can miss out too many good things and opportunities in life.Just saw the pool and met the trainers on Saturday and scheduled the time for the next day.

Add 1 more day to it and here it comes SUNDAY - 15th July, got support from my wife and I hit the waters to learn swimming for the first time in my life.

Paid my initial registration and more than half of my fees for a quartely period and went straight away to the
trainer in my swimming shorts. He asked me to get inside the pool. His intention was initially to check how
was my reaction going in 3.5 feet water even though it wasn't much deep. The I learnt the most basic and most important lesson of swimming - "To hold your breath inside water".The ability to hold your breath for long develops with time and also depends on your stamina.

Floating in water(lie on your stomach with hands and legs streched in water) - as told by trainer is considered to be one of the best relaxing exercises in the world by leaving Ur muscles and body loose in water. It was an amazing and all together out of this world experience for me.Initially I was unable to loose my body free in water as humans don't have this tendency to leave their muscles loose most of the times. So it was a bit difficult for me as well but we humans learn new things by doing mistakes and not repeating them overcoming. Moreover if we want to grow or learn fast we have to keep doing the rate of our mistakes FAST and not repeating them over and over again with time. I applied this fundamental and kept in mind all the time during learning swimming. This logic has always worked for me and worked this time as well.

The only battle a person has to fight is between his and his mind to overcome the fear of being under water,
holding the breath under water, going deep inside water or diving in water more than 6 feet deep, etc. If the  fear in mind wins its difficult to swim but if the mind overcomes the fear with the thought that If others can do it I also Can then history is going to be made and new things are much easier to learn.

What attracted me to swimmimg is its health benefits. Being in a profession where walking and physical exercises happen more in dreams than in real life, swimming is complete package for the peace and health of mind and body.

You can loose your weight, tummy reduction, good for cholesterol and B.P., stress buster, toning of muscles, good for the health of heart and for cure of other diseases as well. This is just a tip of an iceberg. The benefits are numerous.

Some people are worried about that swimming can cause damage to their skin color. But that can be regained with the help of products provided by multinational skin care companies.Another excuse might be that people don't have time for swimming - What you don't have time for your health? , for the responsibities that you have to carry throughout your life and is it possible without good health? - Sorry! but my answer is a big "NO".Start slow but steady and swim for at least 3-4 days per week.At least follow this regime during summer days and I can bet that you can increase your resistance to diseases, increase your stamina and live a healthy and stress free life.

Just make a promise to yourselves to inquire, register and hit the water this Sunday/weekend.I again say dont judge or wait too much for this decision.I bet you wont regret.

Hostel life revisited

** Note : All characters below are not imaginary and if you assume that they are alive and real people then you are right ;)

Type : Humor

Seems to be like a topic of an essay. ;) Wondering why I took this topic to write? I just want to revisit the memories of friends that I met during that phase. Dedicated to all of them. So that we all can connect with it as most of us have passed through this phase in life when hostel was our home away from home. My hostel memories are also very pleasant and wonderful. At that time my father used to take all the decisions as I am not shy to admit that I wasn't mature till then. So he decided my room partner. I remember meeting three people on the first day -Raju (he was nicknamed later by most of us) - last met hi in a Noida based company where I was also working, a typical Kanpur guy you can think of. His local friend - Sameer, now working in an IT company sent to Sydney for an onsite work. Last but not the least - Sanjeev. Sanjeev from Jhansi finally became my room partner. He was one in a million.Just keep it as secret by what I mean by this ;), because every one knows. "Hi! Sanjeev, how are you" (If you are reading this). One incident I still remember he supported me a lot when all other were pulling my legs. But  the question which is still unanswered is that who the Hell stole my wrist watch and Sanjeev's spectacles when we were sleeping that after noon.......? If any one of you can give me guesses I can lodge an FIR now for that theft which took in 2001-02....Just kidding!! Amit's 1st day in hostel was not very good - who waited a lot -hours for his room mate - Rahul (The shining genius, apart from the hidden one -Harish) to return from college with his luggage. Yaad aaya Amit?

Moving to other people whom I met -The Saharanpur Gang :: "Vikas-Arvind-Sumit"(combination of height and power). I can never forget that they had weekly passes to catch a train to Saharanpur every weekend after 5 or 6 days or classes got used to over and then get back to hostel by Monday morning. Vikas - he can get direct entry into "Ring Ka King" being aired these days on Colors channel. Who can forget that solid punch that the PGDBM guy got from him? ;) That night when on hostel's roof our seniors took our class and hostel was divided into PGDBM V/s MCA due to that punch which the other MBA guy received without any pleasure.
Alok - another person from Kanpur; popularly known as Golu by all of us was cute but every one would agree that his voice was very loud when he started shouting ; not to fight but just to gain attention.

People from Kanpur were of majority in our hostel; wonder why Kanpur people were so fond of this college only? ;-0 Sonu, Devendra, Brijesh, Jeetendra- a big fan of Anuj(day scholar) - Abhishek would definitely agree on this. Sonu's one dialogue is still fresh in my mind - "Bhak ########## kay" Very easy to decode the hashes if you have been a student ;). Avadesh - again from nearby Kanpur every one's biggest leg puller.

Abhinit -  the only single person with whom I shared my surname and because of whom I started writing blogs. But one thing I didnt liked about him was that he was very different from me.Why? He was intelligent(keeping Rahul above all), I wasn't ;). Rahul - all of his freinds were in IIT - we all wondered why he was not in IIT. He definitely was one of the main reasons for motivation for  Amit- his roomate to get charged up, get up early in the morning and keep studying.

Rishi and OM - one being our class representative and other one was famous for his Pajamas. The room mate duo -Upendra and Manbeer - Gorakhpur meets Dehradun. First one nicknamed as Dadda and the the other tried a lot to impress girls but now runs his own company.

My memory being very weak; can only remember this much, if missing out anyone just ignore or else what you can do - Nothing ;)

With Love,
Professor! ;)

How to overcome fear of people

A very interesting story that has motivated me all through my bad
times - Once there were few frogs in a well, trying to get out of the
well jumping up and down every now and then. Initially they started
jumping but after a while they stopped after realizing that they were
unable to get out of the well. But there was one frog that kept on
jumping ...................jumping....................jumping.........Rest
of the frogs kept on shouting - "you can't do that, you can never be
out of the well, stop doing that, you are wasting your time and
efforts". They were actually trying to pull him down after getting
exhausted from their attempts. But the frog didn't stopped and kept on
trying. After few hours he came out of the well in spite of every one
else suggesting and shouting against him.......Do you know how that
frog was able to do it? Any guesses? ................Because he was
"DEAF"!! He couldn't hear the voices of the rest of the frogs all the
while he was jumping and this was the reason he came out. In a similar
way we can handle the fear of people by giving them a deaf ear and
being sincere in our efforts.

In the previous article I talked about how fear of people have affected all of us ever since we are born.Suggesting a possible solution to the problem which I have highlighted.I can share some points to get over this fear below.

- Be confident and believe in yourself - this is the single most
powerful tactics to avoid fear of people and even rejections in life
- If some one says that he doesn't like or approve of what you did it
could be just his or her opinion based on his experience in life and
its not necessarily that you should also take it at heart by believing
what he is saying as a hard fact. Do mistakes, don't repeat them and
learn from you mistakes to overcome the fear of people.
- The world (people) will push you here and there not because they
have power but only because you lack confidence.
- Do things on your own and believe in your dreams giving a deaf ear
to what people say or suggest.

I can quote another story which I heard recently.Once there was
Dance Guru who went to a village to teach students. There was a girl
whose name was -Gauri. She thought that she danced well and went to
the Dance guru to take his advice. After she finished dancing, she
asked - "Sir how do you think my dance was? " To which the Dance Guru
said - "I don't think you can ever make it in dance". She got
depressed, dejected and frustrated to the extent that she left dancing
and thought that she can never dance well in life after listening to
the comments of the famous dance guru. The Guru went back to the
city.Meanwhile she got married to a farmer in the village and started
living as a housewife.

15 years later the dance guru again visited the village to attend a
dance programme. By this time Gauri had reached her 40s and again visited him to ask him "Sir, do u
remember, you suggested me 15 years back that I can't dance. It hurted me a lot. That is
why I left dancing.BUT DO U SERIOUSLY THOUGHT that I DANCED SO
BAD and why did you said that?".........

The guru said -"Oh No Gauri, you danced very well." Moreover I am used to saying this to people and its my habit.
Gauri got furious and shouted :- What the hell? That was unfair what you did to me. It demoralised me and you spoiled my life. Or else people in this world might have known me as a god dancer...grrrr!!

############## PAUSE and THINK ###############

Do you think the dance guru did wrong to Gauri by suggesting her not to dance??

Write down your answer....

The dance guru said -"No, dear I don't feel at all that way, had dance been your cup of tea, you wouldn't have gave a damn to what I told you"

Somebody has rightly said that the world will push you here and there ; not because they have power but only because you have lack of discipline.

Lovely story to demonstrate how not to take the fear of people and their statements at heart and follow your dreams and what you want to be in life.

If even a single person can learn from the points and benefit from the stories that I mentioned above my purpose would be solved.

Fear of people

People.......people....people.....Ever since we are born we are surrounded with people, people whom we know, people whom we trust, people whom we like, people whom we dislike and hate, people whom we respect, those people behind whose back we gossip but dont say a word face to face, people whom we admire, people on whom we depend on, people with whom we work. But as many people we know, believe it or not deep down inside among every one of us it brings fear.

Yes!!!! Its Out now that the fear of people is one of the biggest hidden fear of mankind. I am quoting below a few examples in this reference.
- A girl might fear of what would her best friend comment or say about her new dress.
- A student might fear about the scolding he/she might get from her parents if they are not able to get good scores in exams.
- A job candidate might fear of rejection by the people who would be throwing technical questions at him.
- A newly wed girl might fear of the people in her husband's family and meeting their expectations.
- A school kid might fear of getting bullied by his seniors...or fear of getting ragged in college.
- The fear of taking any decision being approved by your loved ones or not.
- The fear of wanting to become what you want in life over what people would think of me.
- The fear of employee knowing that even if he gives his 100% he won't be appreciated by his Boss/manager.
- The fear of what people would think if a person has any physical disability.
- The fear of what people will say if anyone has any inferiority complex.
- The fear of pleasing every person  you know and not hurting their emotions by your actions.

This was just a tip of the iceberg. By now you would definitely agree with me, no matter however bold or dominating you are, no matter how much strong you claim yourself to be; your life has been also effected by fears factor of people in your life. The fear of people might have resulted in taking wrong actions, decisions and as a result of which it brings regrets and sorrow later.

Now the biggest question is - "HOW TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF PEOPLE" and how to handle it?
I am writing this as breakfast is being served in front of me ( ;-) ), so can't wait to get my stomach full. Just keep watching this space. If I get people's comment wanting me to suggest or write about How to overcome fear of people I will definitely write it in my next article. Now by saying this I am also gripped with  fear of people- What if people or YOU don't read this, what if people don't comment on my post, what if they don't comment in the comment section? - I won't get enough motivation to write the next one-How to overcome the fear of people ;(  So if you think you want to get the perfect solution how to handle fear of people just write it in the comments section and I will surely share tips that you haven't heard for sure to overcome this fear.

Importance of Communication in relationships

Suppose you got a call from an unknown number, you kept on saying -"Hello","Hello"....but the response from the caller side is bleak or not at all. Another case in which neither the caller starts the conversation nor the person on the other side; each expecting the other one to start the conversation.Wondering what the hell am I writing or directing towards by these two different cases. Well I just want to emphasize the importance of communication between two people or parties, specifically in a relationship. It can be the relationship of a father-son, boyfriend-girlfriend,husband -wife, etc.If there is communication gap, we can be sure of the relationship going for a toss sooner or later as a result creating misunderstandings, confusion and frustrations between the two people involved.

Imagine what would have happened if Congress had not initiated communication with Anna Hazare and team when whole India was out for their support against corruption. It would have caused tensions, agitation, and might have also caused violence. There also communication played a major part.

If you are unsure of something its better to talk it out or communicate, it can be anything from a petty issue like how your friend thinks of your dress to an issue involving two nations -bilateral relations over Kashmir issue - I remember our prime minister Mr.Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pakistan's General Musharraf meeting in Agra to solve the issues over Kashmir few years back. Communication is the key even if not reaching on a solution, we can be sure of knowing at least the mindset and views of other people about ourselves and vice-versa.

So if you had a fight with a person who hold an important place in your place talk it out, communicate, discuss so that you can be relived of unnecessary thoughts going through your mind.Relationship can also be back on track. Its my experience and most people would agree that is does wonders. DO IT NOW! ;)

The Great Indian Wedding

Indian wedding is a combination of reunion of relatives after long time, noise, gathering, meeting new people, consumption of lots of delicious food & sweets, opportunity to wear beautiful clothes esp. those sherwanis and suits for which lot were spend when purchased but rarely becomes our second skin these days, managing people in their rooms for their lunch and dinner, receiving people visiting from outstation during late night hours, exchanging new numbers, dancing, singing, music, light, gossiping about others and knowing what is going in each others lives these days.

I recently was a part (Host) in my family wedding. Late nights and early mornings can be easily experienced in marriages esp when you are from host side. Also expect that your phone could ring every 15 minutes except the condition if it's not switched off. The energy among marriage attendees is amazing.I wish I could carry that energy throughout my life each and every day. ;) The ceremonies involving marriage keep the people involved at their toes running here and there esp the managing committee.

Nowadays it's easier than ever to go an alien city and host a marriage thanks to the Contract people who will do each and every thing, just be ready to throw amount and all your basic jobs will be taken care of , like - catering, room service, decoration, band,. But what if the guests list suggested by groom side is not that much as expected? Be prepared to suffer losses financially due to less or non availability of guests from both sides.

The rituals are also old but as they say old is gold which holds true even today. Be it not permitting the bride and groom when they enter the room for worshiping GOD or stealing the shoes. The sister-in-laws have a ball out there who can earn while playing pranks at their newly brother-in-law. Brothers from bride side also gets a chance when the groom takes the bride away to his home and they stop his car.

Finally the 3-4 days carnival(great Indian wedding) ends with lots of memories till the next reunion which is rare these days as compared to our childhood.

The power of Faith

We should trust in the power of Faith and Belief. Passing through the phase of worrying about things those are beyond our control is only possible with faith and belief  in ourselves. The basic secret of overcoming worry is the substitution of faith for fear as your dominant mental attitude. Two great forces in this world are more powerful than all others. One is fear and other is faith & faith is stronger than fear.

Several examples can be quoted in this context. An unemployed person can pass the phase of unemployment which can be from few months to years if he has faith in himself and his abilities even though he might be facing rejection in interviews. But most people tend to forget that more we get rejected, the closer we are coming to success. Learning from rejections and failures and moving on and on with faith in ourselves is the best way in this situation. The best discoveries and inventions in this world have been achieved by men who kept on trying even after getting failed again and again.

Belief in the power of Almighty -God also helps a lot. When all your problems at times can be to hard for you to handle, the belief in the power of God can take you through the finish line and achieve your dreams.Think of it in this way -  a human being can surrender in front of all the problems in his life. But is it possible that the problems can be any relevance in front of God.The obvious answer is No. So why don't you put all your problems in front of God with the power of prayer and faith in his abilities. As a result they won't be withstanding God. The delay might happen as there could be situations, time when your prayers are not getting answered. But keep on trying .....trying...trying....trying ; by doing this you are eliminating the ways by which you cant get success, some day sometime a day will definitely come when he will answer your prayers.

So if you are down and out, think that you cant do it any more, just give it one more shot and keep on trying with faith in yourself that you would get success. Law of attraction says that people tend to attract in their live what they think of all the time. Visualize yourself in your mind with belief, getting success. One day that picture of your mind would become reality according to the law of attraction.Never ever stop trusting belief and faith in yourself.
